The Hands Behind Farewell Urns
Modern Memorial Design Meet the Manufacturing Excellence of Progressive Crafts.
The Forge & Form
Traditional Metal Casting
Before the artistry begins, the foundation is laid. Using the same discipline established in 1970s, our craftsmen use high-grade brass and aluminum to create the raw forms of our memorials. Whether through sand casting for heavy-duty durability or precision metal spinning for elegant silhouettes, every urn starts as a testament to structural integrity.
Precision Welding & Jointing
Structural Integrity for Eternal Durability
Once the raw components are cast, they are fused together using high-heat precision welding. This stage is crucial for ensuring that every piece is airtight and structurally sound. Our artisans specialize in creating seamless joints that disappear under our finishing processes, maintaining a smooth, elegant silhouette across the entire form.
Smooth Paring
Refining the Raw Form on the Lathe
Following the welding process, the sand-casted memorials undergo “Chhilai”—a traditional paring technique used to smoothen the raw metal. In this stage, the artisan mounts the urn onto a manual lathe machine. As the piece rotates at high speed, a steady hand uses specialized cutting tools to peel away the rough outer casting crust. This process meticulously reveals the clean, uniform shiny metal beneath, ensuring the vessel is perfectly balanced and structurally smooth before it moves to the artistic finishing stages.
Luster Polishing & Quality Inspection
Surface Equalization & Structural Auditing
Once the smooth paring is complete, the vessel moves to the polishing wheels for intensive surface equalization. This stage serves a dual purpose: it eliminates any micro-roughness remaining from the lathe work and acts as a final quality audit of the metal. As the friction-based polishing reveals the true brilliance of the metal ( Brass or Aluminum ), it exposes even the smallest structural imperfections, allowing us to ensure only flawless pieces proceed. This high-luster finish is essential, as it creates the necessary clarity for the upcoming hand-engraving and complex coloring stages.
Master Hand-Engraving
Artisanal Chiseling & Intricate Detailing
With the surface perfectly leveled and polished, the vessel reaches the hands of our master engravers. Using traditional steel chisels and manual hammers, the artisan carves intricate patterns directly into the metal. This is a slow, rhythmic process where every strike must be calibrated with absolute precision. Because no automated machinery is used, each engraved urn becomes a unique masterpiece, carrying the subtle signature and soul of the craftsman who shaped it.
Specialized Masking & Coloring
Precision Application & Aesthetic Detailing
Following the intricate hand-engraving, the urn enters the paint studio for its final transformation. In this critical stage, artisans perform “masking”—a meticulous procedure where specific engraved patterns or metal accents are shielded with protective layers. This allows for the precise application of paints, lacquers, or enamels to the rest of the vessel without obscuring the brilliant hand-carved details. This delicate balance of shielding and coloring is what creates the vibrant, multi-toned finishes that define our modern collections.
Final Chromatic Finishing
Realizing the Vision of Color and Luster
In this culminating stage, the urns receive their signature aesthetic through final coloring and glazing. Following the intricate masking process, layers of premium pigments and protective coatings are applied to achieve the desired depth and tone. Whether it is a deep, multidimensional patina or a high-gloss metallic finish, this stage is where the raw, prepared metal is finally transformed into a striking memorial. This complex interplay of chemistry and craft ensures a durable, vibrant finish that protects the vessel and preserves its beauty for generations to come.
White-Glove Inspection & Secure Packaging
The Final Audit of Excellence
Before any memorial leaves our facility, it undergoes a rigorous “white-glove” final inspection. Each vessel is placed on a specialized surface to be audited for chromatic consistency, structural symmetry, and finish durability. Only after passing this multi-point quality check is the urn carefully hand-packed using industry-leading protective materials. This ensures that the journey from our workshop to your doorstep preserves the extraordinary craftsmanship we’ve perfected over five decades.
